Background and purpose of the role
As our new Compliance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and developing the recently launched Private Banking business area. The position requires both strategic insight and hands-on execution, with responsibility for translating regulatory requirements into effective processes, procedures, and governance frameworks. Success in the role requires a strong grasp of both the business’ operational realities and the regulatory framework governing Private Banking.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Compliance Officer with expertise in securities regulation and financial advisory services, eager to play a key role in shaping our Private Banking business into a market leader in Sweden.
The role has a primary focus on Private Banking but also carries broad responsibility for supporting and managing compliance matters across the entire organisation. Close collaboration with the business is essential, requiring a combination of integrity, sound judgment, and a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to build trust, and the capacity to balance regulatory demands with business needs are all critical.
Responsibilities
- Support and challenge the business by providing advice on securities-related regulations, particularly within the Private Banking area
- Actively contribute to the development of Private Banking by translating regulatory requirements into practical solutions and drafting internal governance documents, policies, and procedures
- Conduct ongoing compliance monitoring, risk assessments, and training activities
- Serve as a trusted partner to the business and act as a bridge between commercial operations and the control functions, clarifying regulatory requirements while maintaining a business-oriented perspective
We are looking for an individual who
- Has several years of experience in compliance within the securities sector, ideally with a background in private banking, wealth management, or similar
- Has excellent understanding of relevant regulations, including those related to investment advice, portfolio management, conflicts of interest, inducements, and fair advisory practices
- Is experienced in working closely with the business, providing clear, solution-oriented guidance while maintaining the independence required of the compliance function
- Has a strong ability to communicate complex information in a structured, accessible, and audience-tailored way
- Is communicative, pragmatic, and down-to-earth, with the ability to build trust across the organisation
- Thrives in a dynamic and evolving environment
Personal qualities
- Commercially aware yet confident in upholding regulatory requirements and the independence of the compliance function
- Proactive in identifying risks at an early stage and proposing practical, feasible solutions
- Structured and systematic, delivering high-quality results even under time pressure
- Demonstrates high integrity and builds long-term, trust-based relationships internally and externally
- Capable of explaining complex regulatory frameworks in a clear and engaging manner
- Fluency in English and Swedish
